Our Living Planet

Our Living Planet

“We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals.
We as humans patronize them for their incompleteness , for their tragic faith of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we falter , we deeply falter . For the animal shall not be measured by man . In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren , they are not underlings ; they are other nations ; caught with ourselves in the net of life and time , fellow prisoners of the splendor and the travail of the earth “.
By Henry Beston , from The Outermost House
My plight for animals has always been one of the strongest forces in my life.
I have always had a deep love for them and when I see hurt or pain inflicted on them – I feel as it is happening to me. I can deeply sense their emotions, their longing for love , security and most of all Freedom. We all have a right to be Free. That it what it comes down to.
So when we shackle them, enclose them , strip them of their need and right for living their lives in freedom, we ultimately close a piece of our heart.
Through our practice together I will ask you to look a little deeper , dig a little deeper and give a little more of your time and money to help and save whatever your piece of the world that your soul longs to save. Everyone has a little piece of the world that is theirs to save.
Find yours. Speak up. Act with courage and love.
Some of my favorite animal causes to support:
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org)
This is a wonderful organization that rescues and saves orphaned elephants in Africa.
I continue to support these amazing people and for every important birthday or wedding that I go to – I gift the adoption of a baby elephant . They provide updates and photos monthly.
The Orangutan project that also rescues and cares for orphaned orangutans whose habitat are constantly being threatened due to the use of their land for growing palm oil plantations. www.theorangutanproject.eu
And my dear friend Stacey who works with no break taking care of and feeding abused horses and dogs in her place RanchoFino in Mallorca. You can find her on FB and she needs all the support she can get!
We all have a little piece of the world that is ours to save – if this is not your cause – spread love where your passion is.
