How I fell in love with Yoga
I was introduced to yoga during my years in New York City where we would practice yoga as a part of our drama school education. Our teacher taught us Jivamukti Yoga on bare hardwood floors with steam coming off the windows as we all practiced. None of us really knew what we were doing.. but I loved the calm and peace of mind it gave me.
As the wonderful teacher Eric Shiffman once puts it ” Yoga is the path of moving ourselves to stillness”.
So the physical practice with the breath , the deep focus and weaving of the movements leads us to a place where we can finally sit still with ourselves.
I am always moved when the energy can turn in an instant through the practice and how as we come in to the shala carrying our own stories, hurt and joy… and how after just a few moments we become one as we practice, breathe and move together.
I love to use music, my voice as an instrument and deep waves of movement to create healing and stillness.
I practice and teach Vinyasa , Hatha and implement Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga as well.
Breath and meditation are part of the practice and together we explore the 8 limbs of yoga .
